Summer is just around the corner, which means we’re all getting excited for holidays, Christmas feasts, work parties and New Years’ celebrations! However, this can also be a time where many of us struggle to stay on track… of course it’s okay to enjoy your holidays and family time and have some fun sharing delicious food with loved ones, but it’s important we don’t let 1 day of celebration lead to us falling off track completely.
So how can we stay motivated?
The Metabolic Balance Program is designed to be more than just a diet. It is intended to be a lifestyle that you can adopt and allows you to create balance in your life to be able to enjoy the holidays while still prioritising your health long term.
Some top tips for motivation:
Reflect on your goals: Remember why you started your weight loss or health journey in the first place. What made you start Metabolic Balance if you’re already in the program? How far have you come already and how does that make you feel?
Think back on what you have already achieved and consider what you want your goals to be in the next few months. Write down your goals on a list and put it somewhere you will see often.
Surround yourself with supportive people: Easier said than done during the holiday period when you’re eating out with co-workers, friends and family, but it is important you have a support network that help you stay focused and stay on track. Prioritise time with those that encourage you to keep at your goals and help you stay on track.
Plan ahead for eating out: It’s easier to make healthier choices when eating out during the holidays if you plan ahead. If you’re in the Metabolic Balance Program, it’s a good idea to remind yourself of the foods on your list so you can be more prepared for what to choose when it comes to eating out. Allow yourself to enjoy food and being social while keeping your goals in the forefront of your mind!
Many restaurants also provide a online menu that you can look at beforehand to get an idea of what you may want to choose which may help you stay on track and avoid poor decisions in the moment!
Make use of the nice weather: This summer looks like it’s going to be full of nice, sunny days. This is a great opportunity to get social and active outside. The sunshine can be all you need to feel motivated. Go for a walk or a swim with a friend, or have a summer bbq with loads of healthy, fresh and delicious salads and fruit with the family!
