Healthy Ageing and Longevity

Up early, running on empty by 3pm, bloated after dinner and awake at 3am. If any of this sounds like you, take a few slow breaths and relax. It’s your body asking for something different. Let’s find out what that is.

Healthy aging nutrition is about giving your body what it needs, so you have the energy, strength and clear thinking you want for the decades ahead.

You need a plan that suits your body, your history and where you are right now, and someone in your corner while you put it into practice.

 Is this you?

You’re over 50 and want to feel well, strong and capable for the long haul. You don’t need a diagnosis to start, and you’re never too old (or too young) to begin.
You might recognise yourself in this:

  • Your body has started playing by different rules, and what used to work doesn’t anymore.
  • Your energy dips, your digestion is unpredictable, or weight is creeping around your middle.
  • You’re dealing with aches, brain fog, poor sleep or the shifts of perimenopause and menopause.
  • Recent blood tests have you and your GP talking about next steps, and you’d like to support your health with food alongside their advice.
  • You want to stay active, independent and enjoying time with family and friends, and you’re tired of contradictory advice about how to do it.

I work with women and men, from the busy midlife juggle right through to post retirement.

You won’t be brushed off here because of your age.

What Healthy Ageing and Longevity Means in my Practice

Longevity usually gets talked about as living longer. In my practice it’s about healthspan: the years where you feel well, strong, clear-headed and free to do what you love.

I can help you build the everyday foundations that support how you feel and function as you get older: whole food, a settled gut, steady energy, good sleep and a stress load you can manage.

Nutrition is one piece of the picture, alongside movement, rest and connection. I use evidence-based tools, then turn the science into clear, doable steps without hype.

 What we Work on Together

Every plan is built around you, but most healthy ageing work comes back to these areas:

Metabolic Health and Weight

Steady energy, balanced blood sugar and a healthy weight make everything else easier.  We look at what and when you eat and why the midsection tends to change in midlife.

Muscle & Strength

Keeping your muscle matters as you age. We make sure you’re getting enough protein across the day and the right fuel to support your movement and strength training.

Gut Health & Digestion

Bloating, reflux and unpredictable digestion are common, and they’re not something you just have to live with. We work out what your gut is telling you and build an eating plan that supports it.

Aches & Inflammation

I use whole food anti inflamattory food and eating patterns to support people who feel inflamed, stiff or achy, always alongside your health practitioners and medical care.

Heart, Bone & Brain

Food plays a role in how well your heart, bones and thinking stay supported over time. We focus on practical everyday choices.

Hormones

Perimenopause and menopause can change how your body responds to food, sleep and stress. We take the whole person into account, not just what’s on your plate.

Energy & Everyday Wellbeing

If you’re frequently tired or struggling to feel your best, your nutritional intake, sleep, stress and other health factors may be worth exploring. Personalised support can help you identify where changes may be useful.

What happens when I see a Nutritionist?

Understanding your health and goals

The first step is the Initial Consultation, where we explore your symptoms, health history, eating habits, lifestyle and goals.  Everyones health is unique and individual attention is provided to support personal priorities and health concerns.  I’ll provide a treatment plan customised to you.

The treatment plan will include recommendations aimed at providing symptom relief as well as investigating the root cause.

Some clients choose to undertake a program such as my Metabolic Balance Program others prefer to work with me on a consultation by consulation basis.  We discuss these in more detail in the Initial Consultation.

Putting the advice into practice

Having a plan is one thing, making it work when life gets busy is another.  Follow up consultations allow us to review your progress, work through challenges and refine your approach as needed.

The aim is for you to understand your  body and trust yourself, so the changes carry on well after our time together.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is healthy ageing?

Healthy ageing is about maintianing your physical and mental wellbeing, function and quality of life as you get older.  Nutrition, physical activity, sleep, social connection and other lifestyle factors can all contribute to how well you age.

Can food really make a difference to how I age?

Good nutrition is one of the foundations that supports strength, digestion and wellbeing as you age.  At Stepping Stones Nutrition I usually start with changes to support your metabolism from which clients often see improvements in movement, sleep, inflammation, energy levels and/or mood.

Is it too late to improve my health at 50, 60 or 70?

No.  Changes to your eating habits and lifestyle can be worthwhile at different stages of your life.  Your starting point and goals will influence what is most appropriate for you.
You also don’t need a diagnosis or health scare to begin (but this is often what prompts people to think about what they eat).

Is healthy ageing the same as longevity?

They are closely related but not the same.  Longevity refers to living a longer life, while healthy ageing focuses on maintaining health, function and quality of life as you age.  This is sometimes refered to as your healthspan.

Both healthy ageing and longevity are relevant when thinking about your long term health.

Do you offer online consultations?

Yes, I offer online appointments for clients across Australia.  For those who would like to see me in person I offer in-person consultations in Freshwater on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

Can a nutritionist help if I’m on medication?

Yes, I’m happy to work alongside your GP and other health professionals and I never ask you to stop or change your medication.

How do I get started?

Book an initial consultation and I will review your health history, your current symptoms and lifestyle.  From there, we will put together a plan that supports your health goals and gives you clear next steps.

How much does it cost?

Pricing varies according to the treatment plan and any tests or supplements included.  The initial consultation is $185 and during that consultation we can discuss treatment options and potential costs.

Ready for you first step?

If you’ve been wanting to feel stronger, clearer, less pain or more at home in your body, let’s have a chat.  Book a consultation and we’ll talk through where you are at, where you’d like to be and the first small steps to get there.

Whole food, whole life, one step at a time.
