Happy New Year! I’ve just returned from a wonderful holiday celebrating the New Year and my brother’s wedding with friends and family. It was such a joyful and relaxing time filled with laughter, fresh air, and quality moments with loved ones. Now that I’m back, it’s time for resetting healthy habits after holidays to start the year feeling my best. Here are the steps I’m focusing on this week to get back on track—and I hope they’ll inspire you too!

1. Start Your Day with a Healthy Breakfast

A good breakfast is the foundation for a successful day. It kickstarts your metabolism, keeps you full until lunchtime, and helps you avoid unnecessary snacking. Here are some of my favourite breakfast options:

  • Overnight oats: Add cinnamon, nuts, seeds, yoghurt, and fresh fruit for a delicious, balanced start.
  • Greek yoghurt bowls: Top with fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
  • Rye bread: Try it with avocado and goat’s cheese for a satisfying savoury option.
  • Eggs with veggies: Scramble or poach eggs and pair them with spinach, mushrooms, or any veggies you love.

2. Include Quality Protein and Healthy Fats in Every Meal

Balancing your meals with protein and healthy fats is key to staying full and energised throughout the day. Here’s what I aim for:

  • Protein: Incorporate eggs, fish, chicken, cheese or plant-based sources like legumes or tofu.
  • Healthy fats: Think nuts, seeds, avocado, olive oil, flaxseed oil, or ghee.

These nutrients are essential for your body and help keep cravings in check.

3. Load Up on Fresh Veggies and Leafy Greens

For lunch, I love creating vibrant salads loaded with fresh vegetables and leafy greens. They’re packed with vitamins, minerals, and fibre, making them a fantastic way to nourish your body. Experiment with different veggies and dressings to keep things interesting.

4. Make Water Your Drink of Choice

Hydration is often overlooked but plays a crucial role in resetting your health. Throughout the day, I prioritise water over other drinks. Staying hydrated supports digestion, boosts energy, and helps keep hunger at bay. If you’re a big tea or coffee drinker, try swapping a few cups for water instead.

5. Be Kind to Yourself when Resetting Healthy Habits after Holidays.

Remember, resetting isn’t about perfection. It’s about taking small, consistent steps toward feeling your best. Start with these simple changes and give yourself grace along the way. Every small effort adds up to big results over time.
